XPages are THE application development model in IBM Collaboration Solutions to build social applications for the web and for mobile devices. While IBM Lotus Domino has always supported collaborative applications, XPages supports now additionally the new IT landscape and it's new requirements. Information is scattered more than ever, within enterprises and in public social networks, within on premise systems and on the cloud.
Technically this often adds requirements on custom applications to integrate and inter-operate between heterogenous systems using standard and established technologies like REST, OAuth and JSON.
